The first Craig Independent Tire Co., Inc. opened in 1981 in Belen, New Mexico. We just recently celebrated our 25th anniversary. The second location opened in the Peralta/Los Lunas area in 1993. Craig Tire has well over $200,000 in tire inventory at each location and in the nearby warehouse maintained by the company. That means our customers rarely have to wait for us to get a product. We stock thousands of tires that include passenger, pick-up, semi-truck, agricultural, industrial, and recreational tires. We use the three Rs in stocking tires: if it is round, rubber, and rolls, we probably have it in stock. We also stock custom rims and center caps. We also do some mechanical work on parts that effect tire wear, which includes two and four wheel computerized alignments, shocks, struts, brakes, and front-end part replacement. No appointments are necessary. We also maintain a mobile unit that can do work on-site and is available to work on cars, trucks, or agricultural and industrial equipment.

Craig Tire is an independently, family-owned business whose directors and employees are committed to giving honest service at a fair price while adequately meeting the needs of our customers. The Belen location is managed by the owner, John Craig, and our manager, David Sweeney, who has worked for us for approximately 15 years. The head mechanic at the Belen location, Ray Burson, has been with the company for over 23 years.

The Peralta location is managed by a second generation employee, J.R. Craig, who grew up in the tire business and is the oldest son of John Craig. Our daughter-in-law, Kim, is the office manager at the Peralta store. A second nephew of the Craig's is Jose Salaz, who is the assistant manager at that location. The head mechanic at the Peralta location is Jeff Edmonds. We have several other employees who have worked for us for ten or more years, and they all seem like family, even if they are only related by job ties.

We offer honest, professional service at a fair price. We have several families in New Mexico who are third generation customers, where grandfathers and grandmothers were customers of ours. Their children are customers of ours, and their grandchildren are customers of ours. That makes us feel really old, but it also makes us feel like we must be doing something right!
